10 Reasons to Sail the Turkish Coast with Yacht Getaways

When you picture Turkey, you might first imagine Cappadocia’s hot air balloons or the old city of Istanbul, but after sailing the Turkish Coast with Yacht Getaways, we got to see a completely different side of Turkey that we fell in love with from day one! From the stunning landscapes, beautiful waters, and the welcoming culture, we are already dreaming of booking another trip to visit this amazing country! It was our 2nd time sailing with Yacht Getaways— last year we sailed 8 days through the Greek Isles— and we could not recommend booking a sailing trip with Yacht Getaways for your next vacation more highly! Here’s why:

10 Reasons to Sail the Turkish Coast with Yacht Getaways:

1- See to the beauty of the Turkish Riviera

Turkey’s rugged coastline was so much more breathtaking than we even imagined! It is full of lush mountains for as far as you can see as well as gorgeous bays and beaches. The waters are so blue that it’s even been nicknamed the Turquoise Coast! No matter where we were sailing to, there was always an incredible view to enjoy— it felt like we were living in a postcard!

2- Experience the beautiful, rich Turkish culture

Spending each day in a different location is such a cool way to explore an area and really get the feel of the culture. We found Turkish people to be so friendly and welcoming, the food to be delicious and full of flavor, and the towns to be so unique and charming. We loved wandering the streets of the towns we docked at each night, and couldn’t wait to see what the next day had in store!

The Turkish Explorer route with Yacht Getaways starts and ends in Göcek, and takes you through this route:

3- Socialize and meet new friends

Sailing with Yacht Getaways is such a cool way to get to meet new people. The boat is big enough be comfortable for everyone (it is 45ft long), but small enough to allow you to get to know each person that is on the boat. There are four double ensuite cabins for the guests as well as the captain and host on board, so it sleeps 10 people in total. And along with sailing together, you also have breakfast and lunch together each day on the boat. By the end of the week you’re guaranteed to leave with 9 new friends and tons of amazing memories to share!

4- Tick off ‘paragliding’ from your bucket list

One of our favorite memories from our sailing trip was the day we got to go paragliding over Ölüdeniz beach!!! Jumping off of a mountain and soaring high over these azure blue waters was one of those once in a lifetime opportunities that we knew we couldn’t pass up, and we are so happy that we did it. What an adventure!

5- Relax, refresh, and recharge…finally!

There’s seriously no better way to actually vacation than on a boat! Turn off your phone, connect with nature, finally finish that book, and just BE for a full week... This is the kind of trip you’ve always dreamed of taking, but never really figured out how to achieve on your own. (Aka- it is not the kind of vacation that you need a vacation from as soon as you get back home!)

6- You get to wake up and go to sleep on the water

Speaking of relaxation, going to sleep and waking on up the water is something truly special. After our sailing trip last year, that was our #1 highlight and this year we would have to agree. There’s nothing quite like waking up to these kinds of views first thing in the morning. We fell in love with boat life last year when we sailed through the Greek Isles with Yacht Getaways, and it was no different this year!

7- It’s a great value for your money!

We think this trip is incredibly affordable. (Yes, you read that right!) It is not the kind of vacation that will leave your bank account empty or the kind of trip that will take a lifetime to save up for. The cost you pay includes all fuel and docking fees for sailing, 6 nights accommodation on the boat, breakfast and lunch each day (including wine at lunch), and access to snorkeling gear, paddle boards, and kayaks. The price varies depending on the week you book, so make sure to check the rates for 2020 here to secure the best date for you. As of now, prices range between about $1,200-1,467 per person making it as low as $200 a night!

8- You’ll be well taken care of

Yacht Getaways goes above and beyond to make sure that every last detail has been accounted for on the trip so you don’t have to. Breakfast and lunch are cooked on the boat by your lovely host with close attention to any and every dietary restriction. Daily itineraries are set and full of activities such as snorkeling, paddle boarding, hiking, etc. You can sit actually back, relax, and enjoy the ride on your much needed vacay!

9- Experience a hammam (at least once, if not twice..)

If you haven’t already heard of a Hammam, it is the famous Turkish bath experience where you are scrubbed, bubbled and thoroughly cleaned in a traditional bath house. It is an amazing experience and can be followed up by a massage at most spas. When in Turkey…! This type of bathhouse can be found in almost any town along the route, so make sure to experience this on your trip— you’ll thank us later!
